Systematic Review of Youth Participatory Evaluation Studies

Systematic Review of Youth Participatory Evaluation Studies
Partnership for Evaluation & Educational Research

Even as the evaluation field has expanded efforts to be participatory, little is known about the extent to which young people are included in evaluations of programs that serve them. This study is an integrative mixed methods systematic review of evaluations of youth programs in both the United States and internationally. The study will explore the following research questions:

  1. How have youth been included in the evaluation of programs that serve them?
  2. What evaluation methodologies have been used to include youth?
  3. What evaluation strategies and preparatory actions have been used to promote success of youth inclusion?
  4. What are any contextual variables that moderate inclusion?
